September Bank Holiday Weekend / HM QE2’s Funeral
There are no changes to the Shrine’s week day and weekend plans during the week commencing 12th September. The week day and Sunday Masses will happen as advertised with no disruptions to this schedule.
Please note, however, that it might take you longer to get to the Shrine as there are several road closures around Trafalgar Square / Charing Cross and the tube networks will be much busier than usual. Please check the latest travel arrangements on the TfL website before travelling.
The only change to the Shrine’s schedule will be on Monday 19th September – the day of Her Majesty’s funeral. There will only be one Mass that day, and this will be at 6:30pm. This will be a Requiem Mass for the happy repose of the soul of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and it will be offered according to the Missal of 1962 (Extraordinary Form / Tridentine Rite). It will be a polyphonic Missa Cantata and will also be live streamed on our website as usual.

Requiem for HM Queen Elizabeth II
With the permission of His Eminence, Cardinal Nichols, the 11:30am Sung Mass in Latin on Sunday 11th September will be a Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Mass will conclude with the Prayer for the King and the National Anthem.
