Today our eyes behold, in the full spiritual light of the risen Christ, the beloved and revered figure of John Paul II. Today his name is included in the host of those whom he proclaimed saints and blesseds during the almost twenty-seven years of his pontificate, thereby forcefully emphasizing the universal vocation to the heights of the Christian life, to holiness, taught by the conciliar Constitution on the Church Lumen Gentium.
Today is the feast of Pope Saint John Paul II.
With today being the feast of Bl. Karl of Austria, let us take a moment to reflect on the Habsburg devotion to the Blessed Sacrament throughout the ages.
Today is the feast of Blessed Karl I, the last Emperor of Austria.
The first Christian communities that St Paul addressed knew well that Jesus was henceforth alive and risen; the Apostle does not only want to remind the Corinthians or the Galatians but also all of us that the Risen One is always the One who has been crucified.
For the Apostle Paul, the Cross has a fundamental primacy in the history of humanity; it represents the focal point of his theology because to say "Cross" is to say salvation as grace given to every creature.
